First post. Intro.

My name is Ralphy. My goal in 2007 is to make a movie. This blog will follow that adventure and include the highs, the lows, and everything in between. Regardless if the goal is achieved or not, this document will serve as a learning tool for myself and others.

Before we get to the beginning, here's a lil background on me...

I have experience directing, editing, hell, even acting...but writing has always been my thing. I do have a handful of completed screenplays (okay, only one is actually registered and copyrighted at this point). Through all of college, and then a few years after, I did a handful of skits and short films. Most of them are on youtube. The skits are gathered into episodes of a TV show I did called Disorderly Conduct.

I have to admit, I haven't been making the most tremendous effort to mail my favorite script out there and try to find an agent. It's probably because I've become so damn disenchanted with how the whole process works. There are just way too many gatekeepers who would probably get a hard on by passing on my script.

Eff that. I want to be in charge for my first go. At first, this was just a fantasy. But then I started seriously thinking about it...and I realized that I have some good connections I can utilize. I know some people that would be more than willing to help...I'm sure everybody does, whether they realize it or not. These people include graphic artists, sound artists, some crew positions and more. And the more free labor, the better. I can't make a movie on my own. Hell, you've seen the laundry list of credits that follow every film. So with that, combined with the fact that we're filming on digital (saving THOUSANDS on film stock fees), combined with the fact that I'm a cheap bastard...I think I can get this thing done for ten grand.

That's what I'm going for. This will be through investors, donations, and my own damn pocket I'm sure. It sounds like so much, but in reality, it isn't. It's my goal. Let's start raising those funds. In the meantime, I've already got the first draft of the script down. More on that next time...
